Summary:

We are looking for a Financial Analyst II/ Financial Systems Support Specialist. This position will support the Bureau of Indian Affairs (IA), which supports the overall mission of the Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary-Management, Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO).

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    Organizes work and sets priorities.
  • Examine financial documents and reports.
  • Performs reconciliations, analyzing various accounts, enter and process data into various computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format,
  • Make adjustments as necessary and/or requested.
  • Prepare correspondence, analyze financial and statistical data from a variety of sources and technical documents.
  • Training - includes the preparation and updates of financial system training materials for end users, coordinating financial system training events, delivery of financial system training to end users, and post-event communications with the financial systems training team
  • System Support - includes providing support to users by researching, identifying, and troubleshooting problems, as well as communicating with users on resolution.
  • System Monitoring - requesting, reviewing, and sending updates on system job status.
  • System Testing - assists in testing of new releases of system software upgrades, and operating revisions to improve system effectiveness before installation in the production environment.
  • Reporting - develop and deliver reporting tools for other OCFO Divisions, DAS- M organizations, IA field offices, etc.
  • Analysis - analyze financial data through various system reports either developed by FSD or canned reports in the system.
  • Communication - assists in the development and distribution of various types of communication to system users
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Use a high degree of professional judgment and ingenuity in interpreting guidelines for application in day-to-day issues and analyses. This may often require problem solving of a precedent-setting nature.
  • Be proficient in financial systems and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office (specifically advanced Excel skills including know how to use formulas (sumif's, vlookups, countifs. etc.) for analysis, research, problem solving, and financial reports preparation.
  • With maximum independence and discretion, be able to plan, design, interpret policy, analyze, and interpret financial data, and exercise sound, independent judgment and decision making in financial reporting functions.
  • Demonstrate abilities to interact effectively with others in a broad range of functional and technical backgrounds, and to handle pressures in a deadline- driven environment.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or equivalent years of experience.
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
  • Has a strong background in finance or accounting.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in financial modelling and business analysis

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 annually.
