About The Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Relationship Banker. The Relationship Banker is responsible for driving business development, including lead management, networking, and teleconsulting. Provides a consultative style of banking that builds client relationships based on trust and the demonstrated ability to identify financial needs and recommend appropriate solutions. Proactively explores sophisticated banking needs, including small business, mortgage, insurance, and wealth. Opens deposit accounts, process loan, applications and refers to other lines of business as appropriate. Additionally, the Relationship Banker develops new retail and commercial client relationships and expands existing relationships utilizing professional sales techniques to prospect, identify, and meet client needs.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Acquires and expands personal and business banking relationships. Achieves business results through leadership of and productive collaboration with business partners. Responsible for proactive lead generation and appointments conducted inside and outside of branch. Delivers a remarkable client experience from acquisition through onboarding and servicing
  • Proactive lead management and referral generation--Leverages experience and acquired knowledge of bank products and services and positions appropriately to grow client relationships and attract new households. Takes action, using customer information from various sources and translates to actionable sales strategy and tactics. Generates quality referrals to business partners
  • Develop a network inside and outside of the branch as a COI. Works across a broad range of business partners, including SSIC, Private Client Group, Business Banking, trust, and Mortgage. Identifies the resource or team of resources best equipped to meet customer needs and introduces the client accordingly. Holds partners accountable for routine updates and referral follow up
  • Customer experience management--differentiates the customer experience through advanced conversation skills. Delivers a remarkable experience through tailored solutions aligned with customer needs. Solves customer problems courteously and with urgency, escalating where necessary. Acts as an advocate for clients and prospects
  • Works with branch staff to help them identify opportunities to create referrals. Works closely with the Branch Manager and business partners to follow up on independent opportunities
  • Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions
  • Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support Sandy Spring Bank's Enterprise Risk Management Framework

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Position requires a minimum of 24 month's work experience in a sales position, preferably in the financial services industry. BA Degree in Finance, Business or related field is preferred
  • Ability to identify and engage potential customers in the market. Build relationships and create opportunities. Plan, strategize and target the right industries. Create value propositions with impact. Utilizes sales techniques such as profiling, active listening, and tele consulting to generate business. Applies knowledge of banking products and services to meet customer needs and enable them to achieve their financial goals
  • Ability to conduct a thorough financial needs assessment with clients and prospects and recommend the most appropriate products and services. Knowledge of and the ability to recognize and be sensitive to the different perspectives and priorities of different customers
  • Strong understanding of and ability to provide banking products and services, including more sophisticated banking needs such as insurance, investments, mortgage, and small business
  • Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Implements the strategies and techniques used to ensure that customers have a positive experience with the organization and its products and services at every touch point. Shares, shows and supports clients on a variety of technological digital and online tools and resources allowing them to explore solutions to achieve their financial goals. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
  • Ability to build and use effective working relationships within own department and across the Bank

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
