We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals.
The Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) Technician will inspect distribution utility right-of-ways and access to Right-of-Way (ROW) areas, for compliance with state clearance standards. Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide info to line-clearance crews. Document work using hand-held computer. Notify property owners of pending work on their property. Audit work completed by contractors. Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues. Special projects as assigned. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and storms as needed.

The Davey Resource Group (DRG) is currently hiring certified arborists, professional foresters, horticulturalists, natural resource specialists, environmental scientists, GIS technicians, and plant and outdoor enthusiasts to join our workforce.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with major electric/gas utility system and address its forestry needs
Acquire signed Tree Growth Regulator treatment authorizations from private property owners
Track all authorized trees in Davey's ROWKeeper software
Adhere to all federal, state and safety best management practices for vegetation management adjacent to energized facilities
Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property
Assess all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions
Coordinate with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred minimum six months experience in utility forestry pre inspection
Ability to identify common tree species in San Diego county and their growth rates
Knowledge of safety requirements regarding herbicide application/vegetation removal
practices around substations, communication sites, utility Right of Way and near high voltage equipment
Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding chemical applications
Knowledge of applicable OSHA vegetation safety standards
Thrives on adaptation, continual learning and training and is detail oriented
Has ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
Embraces an outdoor and independent work environment
Is a great communicator and team player
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads
And
Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline
or
Has more than 6 months of utility vegetation management experience or similar experience in a related field (tree work industry, landscape professional)
