Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) Technical Lead

Purpose of Position

Provide technical and administrative oversight to the Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities in support of delivering safety system software certified for use in nuclear power plants. These activities include:

  • Work with the IV&V Manager to monitor the health of the IV&V scope of the projects.
  • Develop and maintain the IV&V schedule, budget, and task assignments.
  • Interface with the program managers and provide IV&V input and status.
  • Technically savvy to understand the I&C safety system functional, system, and software design, and allocate necessary tasks to IV&V engineers in compliance with IV&V processes and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Mentor and supervise IV&V Engineers in matters related to the IV&V process and their work products.
  • Support IV&V Manager with continuous improvement initiatives related to the IV&V operation, tasks, tools and methods.
  • Ensure flawless execution of IV&V scope of work with required safety, quality, and compliance criteria.
  • Create V&V Plans, verification reports, test reports, and summary reports.
  • Represent IV&V before internal quality audits or external regulatory inspections.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of IV&V tasks in a timely and efficient manner for entire IV&V organization.
  • Provide technical guidance to other IV&V personnel, including the preparation of Task Assignments identifying objectives and approach.
  • Coordinate, with the System Test organization, the test plan execution and ensure that all testing activities have been performed per the defined process requirements.
  • Provide feedback to safety system project management.
  • Collect metrics and provide status on technical and project execution health on projects undertaken, identify recurring issues and risks.
  • Develop status reports for project execution (e.g., spending, schedule adherence) for monitoring progress.
  • Support system test engineers to validate the system requirements fulfillment with necessary IV&V evidence.
  • Support internal and external inspections and audits by the quality assurance organization, customers or regulators.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related work experience (preferably in regulated industries)
  • Minimum of BS degree in Engineering or related field
  • Working knowledge of software development preferably using C/C++
  • Working knowledge of V&V standards and regulations
  • Project Management skills are required (schedule, budget, risk)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and MS Project or P6
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Questioning attitude
