The Team Lead functions as work lead for a group of BMET III, II, I and Associates. This work is performed under minimal supervision and using the tools and techniques of biomedical technology. Team lead is expected to provide support, expertise, proper communication, and professionalism to insure the completion of team responsibilities and work.

A. Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Requires the completion of formal training in a department-approved certificate program in Biomedical Technology or Electronics at a recognized technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization.

Associate degree in Biomedical Technology or Electronics with an understanding of coursework in anatomy and physiology preferred.

Additionally, must demonstrate the accomplishment of continuing education annually.

B. Knowledge: Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of electronic equipment, biomedical technology, design, operation and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical-fluidic equipment.

Demonstrated knowledge of safety rules, procedures and practices, including the proper use of test and safety equipment as defined by industry standards.

Demonstrated wide knowledge of computer applications (PC- and network-based), including Windows, departmental e-mail, and custom Clinical Engineering Services database.

C. Skills: Applies biomedical technology, electrical and safety knowledge indicated herein.

Safely uses tools and equipment indicated herein.

Demonstrated ability to solve problems with unfamiliar devices and manage information indicated herein.

Demonstrated ability to test, troubleshoot and repair a wide variety and the most complex clinical and non-clinical equipment, devices, and systems.

Requires proficient written and verbal English communication skills, at least on a college level, to interact with departmental/JHM staff and manufacturer's representatives.

Identifies and avoids hazards as indicated by warning labels, signage, lights and other warning devices.

Performs work within reasonable lengths of time as measured against trade, industry or engineered standards.

D. Required Licensure, Certification, etc.: "Preferred Candidate Status" or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician preferred.

E. Work Experience: 6 years of related work experience.
