This is a benefited, part time (40 hours every 2 weeks) position generally working varied weekdays from 8am-5pm. No weekends or holidays. Located at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines in La Jolla.

Scripps Torrey Pines clinic is a great place to work. The clinic overlooks the ocean making it a beautiful place to work. General Surgery will be dealing with primarily colorectal surgeons. This role will be assisting with proctoscopies (anal exams).

Your job duties:

• Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
• Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

Required Certification/Registration:

• BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred
• General Surgery experience
