Summary

At DSV Road Inc, the Business Development Manager, Airfreight will be responsible for driving growth and execution in the air freight space specifically first/final mile. This individual will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and achieving sales and operational targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the company's presence in the air freight segment of road brokerage.
  • Research and prospect potential clients, including manufacturers, distributors, and freight forwarders.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to win new business and achieve revenue targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, and requests.
  • Understand client needs and provide tailored transportation solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments in the air freight sector.
  • Identify opportunities for product and service enhancements.
  • Build and maintain a carrier network for major airport hubs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop strategic plans for market penetration and growth.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals, bids, and quotations to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing agreements to maximize profitability and value for the company.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize team performance.
  • Measures and monitors carrier's service levels to ensure benchmarking is tracked within the VFT (Visual Freight Tracking) system.
  • Prepares and distributes "load-build" reports for customers and carriers.
  • Proactively handles customer shipment routing requests.
  • Utilizes various transportation software systems to facilitate material movement, planning, and scheduling.
  • Tracks and traces shipments from pickup through delivery to ensure accurate and up-to-date shipment information is being provided to customers.
  • Ensures customer expectations are met or exceeded by completing accurate and timely scheduling/dispatching of trucks and rail cars.
  • Develop a growth and training model to scale the team according to business needs.
  • Other duties and project work as assigned by manager.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED)

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma.
  • 2 years' experience in logistics, transportation brokerage, or related field.
  • 2 years' specifically in Airfreight first and final mile

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree in Logistics or Supply Chain.
  • Previous management experience.
  • 5 years' industry experience.

  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with transportation management systems.

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

  • Position requires strong mathematical skills for pricing and negotiating.

  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is often required to walk and use hand and eye coordination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Hours and Environment

Normal working hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, however, working beyond these hours will often be required by business needs.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $78,000- $117,500/ Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
