HDR is currently in need of a Water / Wastewater Designer to join our Florida Water Business Group and develop their career by engaging in the area's most interesting, diverse, and innovative projects for our clients. Experience gained as a designer under the mentorship of our Group's technical leadership will establish the foundation for advancing to future career opportunities (e.g. EIT, project engineer, project manager).

The successful candidate will be expected to work as a team member for detailed design, preliminary engineering, planning, and construction phase services - including field services such as inspection - for a wide-variety of projects, including wastewater/water treatment plants, pump stations, and pipelines (collection and distribution). Typical responsibilities include: hydraulic calculations, preparation of design drawings and technical specifications, equipment selection, cost estimation, technical writing, process mechanical layouts, field support services, and coordination with support disciplines and vendors. These activities will be performed under the supervision and mentorship of our area's most trusted technical Professional Engineers.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Experience working with wastewater/water infrastructure projects whether it be experience as a consultant or via academic course load
  • Willingness to be involved with field related services during construction
  • MS in Civil or Environmental
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Self-motivated personality with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
  • Interest or experience analyzing and designing water focused systems
  • Experience with production, simulation, and automation such as BIM systems, numerical modeling platforms, and other production tools
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
