In support of this mission, the GWSB Undergraduate Programs Office is searching for a Senior Academic Advisor. This individual is a key contributor to developing forward thinking and inclusive business leaders, a core aspiration of the Undergraduate Programs Office. The primary responsibility of the Senior Academic Advisor is to educate and empower students throughout their academic journey. This is achieved by focusing on holistic student development and prioritizing student learning in academic advising, the Business Leader Development Program, and co-curricular initiatives. Two core components of the role are academic advising and teaching in the Business Leader Development Program. The Senior Academic Advisor plays a pivotal role in our open-team academic advising model. Our GWSB Academic Advising Team empowers students by allowing them to choose their preferred advisors based on availability and established connections. Success in this advising model hinges on each team member's meticulous attention to detail, effective communication, counseling expertise, as well as their ability to provide sensitive and discreet guidance to students from diverse backgrounds. They are also expected to interpret and implement academic policies and work autonomously in a high-volume, dynamic higher education environment, demonstrating sound judgment, innovation, and initiative. Beyond individual academic advising, the Senior Academic Advisor will also serve as an instructor in the Business Leader Development (BLD) Program. This program is designed to enhance students' career readiness and community engagement by fostering forward-thinking and inclusive leadership skills. The Senior Academic Advisor will lead two sections per semester of one of the Business Leader Foundations courses. Reporting to the Assistant Director (Curriculum) for Undergraduate Academic Advising, this role does not include direct reports but may involve the supervision of two undergraduate student mentors serving as classroom teaching assistants. Minimum Qualifications: | Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |
