Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve both as individual contributor in opto-mechanical and Mechanical systems engineering, and main manager of the Timbre engineering team.
  • Responsible for TRM updates on monthly and quarterly, and annual basis
  • Responsible for setting goals/milestones and drive all early development projects to completion, including managing the Engineering team comprised of ME, optical, electrical, systems, engineers.
  • As individual contributor, architect mechanical systems for optical sensing and optical metrology, including innovative mechanical system design for our next generation equipment sensors and process control instruments;
  • Conduct system architectural design.
  • Generate mechanical system/sub-system design specifications by analyzing performance requirements, critical customer needs, tolerances, error budget, cost, and manufacturing process constraints.
  • Conduct optomechanical and precision mechanism design, from concept layout to detail drawings.
  • Conduct mechanical system analysis and design optimization by mathematical modeling, structural and/or thermal FEA, and incorporate appropriate manufacturing technologies into the design.
  • Development of equipment motion control system; Generate motion control system spec and define the qualifying test procedures.
  • Design experiments and conduct feasibility studies to prove concepts.
  • Implement and Comply with the product life cycle (PLC) procedures.
  • Create technical documents and execute the document control procedures (PLM track all releases to prototype and product and make ECN, ECO changes).
  • Provide technical support for both design for manufacturability, and provide leadership into NPI, and release to internal manufacturing factories.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

MS/Ph.D. in mechanical engineering is required for this critical position. Basic qualifications include:

10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design in the semiconductor equipment industry; Strong training and working experiences in the following areas:

  • Creo Parametric for modeling and drawing, Windchill for CAD data management;
  • Agile for document control;
  • Finite element analysis in structures, thermal and fluid flow;
  • Tolerance analysis for opto-mechanical systems, and GDT best practices for high precision instrumentation;
  • State-of-the-art manufacturing technologies;
  • Motion control technologies;
  • Building test bench and prototype systems to validate design concept;
  • Experience with DFM
  • Semic specifications for capital equipment
  • Error budget analysis during early architecture phases
  • Preparing for future tool to tool matching of designed hardware and systems

5+ years experience in the optomechanical design of optical modules for sensors or metrology equipment. Knowledge about semiconductor manufacturing processes and optical metrology. Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to quickly learn about new technologies and products; Capable of leading R&D projects, and experience with pre-release to NPI groups, and final release to manufacturing know-how.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Works effectively in a cross-functional team environment, and has strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Salary Ranges$185,633.18 - $244,254.21

Individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and/or training. In addition to base salary, we offer (full time regular employees ) a comprehensive benefits package and for certain roles eligibility in our bonus plan and long-term incentives as applicable.
