Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Finance, Administration and Operations, The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for the development and implementation of internal practices and systems and will contribute to the development of the organization's operational strategy to support Health and Campus operations. They will lead and provide operational management of multiple campus site office locations, and their primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of the department, manage a team of Administrative Officers and Executive Assistants including employee engagement, event management, and provide leadership on designated department projects.
The Assistant Director of Operations will work closely with Finance, Administration & Operations leadership to contribute to UCSF Real Estate programs and initiatives, aligning them with campus-wide strategic priorities. They are an integral member of Finance, Administration and Operations team providing leadership and customer service to the multiple units within UCSF Real Estate and work in collaboration with other administrative team members. They will use their skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operation professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of UCSF Real Estate. This role demands strong independent decision-making, organizational skills, initiative, the capacity to prioritize tasks accurately and autonomously, sensitivity, adeptness in interacting with diverse personalities, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure amidst competing demands. Advanced technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, effective time management, and the capability to work efficiently with minimal supervision are essential requirements.
A key role is to ensure sound information is communicated for effective decision making by the Executive Director of Finance, Administration & Operations regarding policy and resource allocations to units within the department. This position requires thorough knowledge of University policy and regulations, high-level analysis and evaluation of complex materials and issues, and consultation with a variety of University and outside personnel.

Department Description
The organization of UCSF Real Estate is focused on the development, planning, delivery, and management ofphysical space for UCSF. Key responsibilities include a unified approach to oversee the active UCSF growth planned on a multi-site campus and to manage the complex metropolitan environments affecting capitalassets andprojects and efforts to align municipal challenges with maximum effectiveness in support of the UCSF mission.
UCSF Real Estate is an integrated unit that enables the alignment of development, planning, design, construction, and management of facilities and a lease portfolio of 1M square feet across UCSF. Services are provided through the following departments: Building Permit Services, Campus Design and Construction, Campus Planning, Construction Contract Administration, Health Design and Construction, Health Major Capital Projects, Real Estate Services, Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Capital Program Management and support through Business Intelligence, and Finance, Administration and Operations.
Finance, Administration & Operations is a cross-functional team that provides support to the advancement of UCSF Real Estate's strategic goals and long-term plans by providing value-added expertise and guidance in all operations. The team provides support for all UCSF Real Estate functions in the areas of fiscal management, budgeting & reporting, human resources, operations, administration, talent management, communications, organizational development, procurement, and capital project delivery and work collaboratively across the department to ensure operations are performed to the highest standards of customer service, accountability, and efficiency.
The combined UCSF Campus and Health organizations include approximately 198 UCSF and 38 contract personnel; operating/recharge budgets of more than $52.2M per year; current year capital project expenditures of $900M; and oversight and responsibility for > $13.3B long-range capital development.
