This position requires on-call after hours support and some weekend work.

As a Lan Administrator, you'll:

  • Implement and maintain the Local Area Network hardware and software for the enterprise.
  • Design, specify, implement, and maintain network hardware and software programs across the enterprise.
  • Manage user access to shared network resources, secure applications, and shared email accounts including creating, configuring, and terminating user accounts.
  • Work with Microsoft suite of server and desktop applications, server hardware and peripherals as well as various third party software products to establish a reliable and secure data processing environment.
  • Research new products and issues related to existing products to resolve issues and increase efficiency.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all government, institutional, corporate and departmental directives.
  • Meet regularly with management, systems personnel and vendors to develop requirements, evaluate and develop integration plans for future products.
  • Work closely with Technical Support Team to ensure that issues are identified, documented and resolved. On-call after hours support required. Weekend worked is sometimes required.

What you'll bring:

  • 2+ years' experience performing installation, operation, monitoring, maintenance and problem evaluation of PC operating systems and applications in a Windows LAN environment.
  • Direct experience with installing and maintaining network attached hardware and associated peripherals.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field in a related technical field. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of servers, networks, and software applications, requiring proficiency in operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux, Unix, and macOS.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and hardware and experience with virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V.
