Overview

LMI is seeking a Network Engineer to assist with the designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of the networking components of an Army Data Layer (ADL). This role will enable reliable and uninterrupted connectivity between Army partners, ADL and downstream analytic tools. The Network Engineer will work with Government Leads, solution architects, application developers and cloud engineers to build a highly available and compliant communication infrastructure. Work location is currently teleworking, eventually hybrid teleworking and client site in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Responsibilities
    Assess application requirements and goals to design scalable, reliable, and secure network solutions.
  • Deploy network infrastructure based on the designed architecture and configure to industry best practices and organizational policies.
  • Set up and configure VLAN and VPN.
  • Monitor the performance and health of the network traffic, performance metrics, and logs to identify and troubleshoot issues, such as connectivity problems, bottlenecks, or security incidents, and implement solutions to resolve them.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure reviews to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform and/or participate in requirements discovery and design work sessions to determine best practice solution requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering or related field preferred.
  • Work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in information systems, system administration, data engineering or network engineering.
  • Experience working with a cloud provider (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) or in-house data centers.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as Nagios, PRTG, or SolarWinds.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Software Defined Networks (SDN)
  • Active Secre Clearance

Desired

  • Experience with Palantir
  • Certification in one or more of the following: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+
  • Analytical mindset- data-driven and able to problem solve, particularly in the use of platform metadata or logging data to diagnose issues raised by platform users in relation to system functionality, or data pipelines.
  • Good communicator- able to deliver messages effectively, specifically as it relates to translating functional requirements into technical solutions and coordinating across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Be self-motivated and self-starting- able to execute with minimal guidance, embrace new methods, and learn and apply new concepts.
  • Attention to detail- focus on rigor and completeness of work output
