The Petrullo Lab is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join our team and contribute to various research projects on mammalian physiology, ecology, and evolution. Our lab focuses on addressing big questions in ecology and evolution across multiple scales, with a particular focus on host-associated microbiomes. We are a collaborative and inclusive community that prioritizes intellectual independence, intentional mentorship, and work-life balance. The ideal candidate will contribute to these objectives and will gain experience in both labwork and fieldwork.

This is a year-to-year appointment contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the conception and implementation of various research projects, including the supervisors current projects as well as independent projects specific to the candidate's research interests
  • Perform lab work related to various research projects (e.g., sample prep, DNA extraction, PCR, library prep, qPCR, hormone assays, etc)
  • Perform fieldwork related to various research projects (e.g., behavioral observations, trapping, tagging, sample/data collection, etc.)
  • Disseminate research findings by preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presenting results at conferences

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Biostats related/adjacent programming skills (e.g., R)
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Biology, Ecology or a related field upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in genomics (labwork and bioinformatics)
  • Experience in fieldwork (especially small mammals
