Job Description

Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist for Behavioral Health Services program (Direct Hire)

111 N. County Farm Road Wheaton, Illinois, 60187

The program will provide residents with immediate access to mental health and substance use care including evaluations and follow-up treatment to individuals with serious mental illness. The main client focus will be the child/adolescent population.

This particular position will work out of Wheaton with the option for a portion of the schedule to accommodate telehealth/remote work.

Full-time offers a full benefit package which includes 12 paid holidays, 3 weeks of paid vacation per year and paid sick time (varies based on number of hours of employment). This is also a pension eligible position and qualifies under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for all ages, with a focus on the child/adolescent population
  • Provides treatment to individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders
  • Documents and participates in multidisciplinary treatment plannings
  • Maintains records of treatments according to community, professional and agency standards
  • Reviews relevant medical histories and symptoms with clients to determine general physical conditions following psychiatric standards of practice
  • Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained
  • Treats or directs treatment of patients, utilizing individualized psychotherapeutic methods and medications
  • Completes Health Department in-service training requirements
  • Provides medical services to an at-risk, culturally-diverse and multilingual population
  • Participates, when required, in collaborative agreements with Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses
  • Provides clinical supervision to other staff as needed

Requirements

Requirements include:
Completion of a Medical degree from an accredited U.S. Medical or Osteopathic School (M.D. or D.O.) or ECFMG certification; successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency (four years post medical or osteopathic degree) in psychiatry: an active Illinois Medical License or the ability to obtain one; valid Illinois Controlled Substance License; valid Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance License; Board Certified (or Board Eligible) in Child Psychiatry.
