Job Description

At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking an Academic Assistant who is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support for COM Academic Clinical and Basic Science department faculty and other duties as assigned. This includes preparing documents, correspondence, compiling course materials, scheduling meetings, tracking budgets, and maintaining organized files and records.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare and maintain documents and correspondence for COM academic departments along with keeping organized records of all related departmental and administrative information. This may include reports, letters, meeting minutes, budget information and other related material or special projects assigned by the faculty or supervisor.
  • Prepare, maintain and coordinate academic course schedules and laboratories. This includes guest lecturer information, lecture material, lab handouts, syllabi, documents, examinations, student grade reports, budget information and other duties as assigned.
  • Hire teaching assistants by collecting and reviewing hiring packets for completeness of I-9 and W4 forms and edit and approve TA timecards on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Coordinate academic and administrative daily activities, assisting faculty, staff and students, serving as liaison for the department. Must be able to use good judgement with minimal supervision coordinating all assignments and demands while keeping focus on priorities.

What we're looking for:

  • High school degree or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience as an administrative assistant required.
