Georgia State University's Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) is seeking an Audio Visual Engineer, Lead to join our vibrant and growing team. This IIT unit wants an enthusiastic and highly motivated team member who is a skilled and diverse professional who wants the opportunity to advance in the field and be a part of an innovative division.

The Audio Visual Engineer, Lead directs the design and audio/visual approach in learning and other spaces for Georgia State University and IIT. This position excels at providing an in-depth understanding of complex issues that surround the design and implementation of learning environments technology. Advanced knowledge within this position includes both the technologies associated as well as modern pedagogical practices within learning environments.

The Audio Visual Engineer, Lead (production programmer) applies knowledge of current technology, upcoming trends, and industry standards to the installation, configuration, and maintenance of classroom and conferencing technologies. Through collaborative processes with other university personnel, vendors, and manufacturers, the Audio Visual Engineer, Lead will create robust technological solutions to meet the pedagogical needs of the university.

A masterful knowledge of Q-SYS, Crestron, Biamp, and Extron coupled with a clear grasp of audio signal flow and general-purpose programming (C#, LUA, CSS, Java Script) will allow the Audio Visual Engineer, Lead to initiate improvements to technological solutions in the drive to provide the best possible environment for learning. Acting as a leader on the team, this position leads teammates through assistance with learning new skills and technologies as well as incorporating constructive feedback into programming applications. Timely resolution of technical issues in classrooms and other key spaces involving in-person diagnostics and repair is an essential part of the position.

Self-initiated learning to keep up to date in the many diverse technologies of audio-visual solutions is vital to the success of the Audio Visual Engineer, Lead, including the growing interaction between audio visual technologies and network protocols, capabilities, and limitations. Implementation of technological solutions as an answer to university needs in adherence to university policies and protocols will be a key function of this position.

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO

The scope of responsibilities for this position will include but is not limited to the following essential duties:

* Command masterful audio/visual technologies including Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, etc. troubleshooting, programming, and configuration. Full grasp of audio, video, communication, and IP signal flow concepts and protocols.

* Command a masterful understanding of IP networking concepts and AV over IP systems to facilitate design, integration, support, and management of network connected AV systems and devices.

* Display a full understanding of video and audio-conferencing platforms' design, signal flow, and configuration with regard to both hardware and soft-codec solutions. Full knowledge and command of analog and digital audio signal flow, Dante, and DSP configuration is critical to success in this role.

* Produce AV and other system programs for systems under our management. These programs include code for the base processing unit as well as other ancillary units such as Audio DSPs, touch panel GUI elements, USB AV bridging devices, network switches, and any other connected component.

* Responsible for post-installation system program upload and configuration of all system components and network connections to make a functioning system that meets university standards. The industry term for this is System Commissioning.

* Lead the discussion of holistic design principles within learning environments. Coordinate with internal and external partners as needed. Research and develop interactions between new and emerging technologies to create innovative solutions for our university partners. Discuss and share knowledge with team members organically in our in-person and collaborative team environment.

* Contribute to the design and management of AV systems. Take lead role in managing and resolving AV and other tickets assigned to our group using both remote management tools and onsite resolutions.
