Education:
High School or GED
Licensure:
* Current CPR Certification (Heartsaver)
Experience:
Successful completion of Anesthesia Course/Certification or at least 1-2 years previous experience in the field
Skills:
* Ability to read and write
* Able to understand and follow written and oral instructions
* Analytical skills in order to maintain equipment and supply inventory

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Cleans and services anesthesia equipment (i.e. gas machines) to include proper breakdown and reassembly of gas machines, utilizing aseptic techniques and according to established procedures.
* Transports equipment to and from the operating room, procedural areas and other locations in the hospital as needed.
* Assembles and sets up equipment used by the physicians, nurses, and surgical technicians such as anesthesia machines, automated dispensing machines, fluid warmers, infusion pumps, transport monitors, arterial lines, glidescopes, nerve blocks, and sonosite devices.
* Assists the anesthesiologist and the nurse anesthetist in the preparation of special anesthesia equipment such as spinal trays, epidural trays, fiberoptic scopes, and difficult airway and pediatric carts as directed.
* Troubleshoots equipment and performs minor repairs/adjustments and maintenance as needed. Contacts Biomedical Engineering to request service of equipment as needed.
* Stocks supplies in anesthesia machines, operating rooms/procedural areas, anesthesia, epidural carts and other carts as necessary.
* Keeps the storage areas clean, neat and orderly to ensure easy storage and retrieval.
* Assists with opening/breaking down boxes and transporting supplies to various OR/procedure locations.
* Interacts with Central Sterile Processing, Distribution, Receiving, Pharmacy and Department Buyer to place and follow-up on purchase orders.
* Cleans and maintains the general appearance and cleanliness of all equipment of the department used directly or indirectly in the care of patients.
* Assists anesthesiologists and the nurse anesthetist with all intraoperative procedures, positioning, arterial lines, intubations,
* IV access as necessary.
* Has access to supply rooms and operating rooms where supplies and/or medications are stored.
* Reads emails daily on scheduled workdays
* Signs off on various documents/checklist requires by the department according to the Standard of work.
* Identifies and anticipates issues. Takes responsibility to correct and resolve these issues.
* Readily accepts challenges and performs assignments effectively.
