We're hiring a talented Software Engineering Manager to help us improve quality across multiple areas to fuel the Snowflake Data Cloud. As the Manager in the Software Design Engineer in Test team, you will lead and expand our distributed engineering team. Together with industry-wide experts in test infrastructure, cross-cloud development and engineering excellence, you will evolve our developer tooling to be elastic, large-scale, and highly performant, with simplicity at its core.

You will help Snowflake realize its mission and vision of becoming the premier Data Cloud by accelerating the delivery of our high quality software to production. You will be a key stakeholder in driving clarity on our strategy and partner with product managers to chart the quarterly and long-term roadmaps for the team. You will ensure that the team is executing towards serving the current needs of its customers, while also ensuring that we stay ahead of technological trends and future demands.

OUR IDEAL MANAGER WILL HAVE :
  • Strong passion and proven track record for shipping quality software in high code velocity environments
  • Strong technical acuity and keen design sense to leverage automated test systems to consistently deliver high quality software at scale
  • 10+ years industry experience designing and building distributed data systems.
  • Experience in developing or testing databases
  • Excellent problem solving skills, and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Fluency in SQL, Java, C++, Python or Go.
  • Ability to collaborate well across teams, build high-performing teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at our San Mateo, CA or Bellevue, WA offices.
BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING :
  • Large scale test-related issues (flakiness, performance, selection, quality)
  • Solid understanding of shipping end to end customer experiences across clients including browsers, apps and drivers
  • Multi-tenant systems, with focus on reliability, performance, isolation, security and scalability.
  • A track record of leading distributed technical teams

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $235,000 - $368,000.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
