Job Description

Overview: As a Bank Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and stability of the bank's operations. You will be responsible for accurately recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions related to the bank's accounts. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and banking regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Recording and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and investments.
    • Process accounts payable.
    • Prepare payroll for processing.
  1. Reconciliation and Analysis:
    • Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, ensuring that discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
    • Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and potential areas of concern, and provide recommendations for improvement.
    • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for various financial activities and initiatives to support strategic decision-making.
  1. Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies and procedures.
    • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to regulatory authorities, such as the Federal Reserve, and FDIC as required.
    • Assist in audits and examinations conducted by internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Responsible for submitting and tracking debit card and ATM Reg E disputes.
    • Responsible for bi-monthly OFAC & FINCEN database scrubs and checking the known suspect list against sales of monetary instruments ($3,000 to $10,000) & wire transfers for the past 6 months.
  1. Risk Management:
    • Assess financial risks associated with banking activities and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Monitor key risk indicators and alert management to potential risks or issues that may impact the bank's financial stability.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
  1. Financial Planning and Budgeting:
    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing input on revenue projections, expense allocations, and capital expenditures.
    • Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted targets, analyzing variances and identifying areas for cost savings or revenue enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the banking industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and banking regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
