Position Summary

The Junior Network Analyst is responsible is to assist with the management of the information system network including network and telecommunications hardware, patch management, risk, and server management. The position requires skills and knowledge in network and telecommunication infrastructure to perform functions in managing a multi-user, multi-location information system environment. Responsibilities include assistance with network security including support, as needed, to upgrade the system in response to deficiencies identified through network and other monitoring applications. Must have the ability to install new applications, distribute and install software upgrades, and monitor daily network activities. The position requires the ability to resolve a wide range of issues and problems inherent in the day- to-day operation of a complex information systems network. The position requires analytical, interpretive, and constructive thinking skills to find practical solutions and contribute to strategic planning. Must provide key monthly reports to inform the adequacy of the network and complete Helpdesk request documentation.

Work Location

This position is located at Corporate Headquarters in Downtown Baltimore. Incumbent will be required to report in office for this role. Upon completion of 90 days incumbent may work hybrid schedule.

Education/Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Networking, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of two years' experience in enterprise network/telecommunication infrastructure
  • CompTIA Network+ Preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Identifies information systems network requirements by analyzing architecture, applications, programming, and operations involving networks, operating systems, file servers, and equipment.
  • Assist with planned network installations, upgrades, and expansions.
  • Participates in the team effort required for large information systems projects.
  • Minimizes system downtime through early identification of potential problems and prompt response when the system fails.
  • Monitors network asset inventories including IPs, network infrastructure components and circuits, and equipment tracking.
  • Assists with vendor relations.
  • Ensures information systems network infrastructure standards and policies through the development and updating of information systems networking documentation, including cabling, equipment and network infrastructure documentation and drawings, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Performs in-depth analysis and maintenance on complex network hardware and software installations and repairs at multiple locations.
  • Installs, configures and maintains network hardware and software components.
  • Monitors and performs the daily operations of numerous telephony systems including but not limited to VoIP systems, user management, voicemail, Cell phones, Pagers, and overhead paging systems while assisting users with prompt resolution of issues and questions.
  • Participates in an after-hours and on-call weekend rotation schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the successful candidate is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, keyboards or controls; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop or kneel.

Must regularly lift and/or move files and equipment up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pound objects. Specific vision characteristics required by this position include close vision, adjust focus, and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
