Position Summary
This position is to support the Clinical Trials division in the Department of Orthopaedics at UNC-Chapel Hill. The main focus of this position is to screen potential subjects, recruit patients, obtain informed consent and gather clinical and research data.This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator, resident physicians and other research staff involved in active clinical trials. Additionally, this position will work with clinic staff - including nurses and physicians in the various clinical settings.

A large part of this position involves maintaining contact with the research subjects, collecting research data, data entry, building research databases, study start up activities, consent documentation, and maintaining regulatory and IRB documents. This position may cover multiple industry funded, government funded or investigator initiated research studies. Duties will also include supporting the PI with tracking patients in the study, conducting telephone surveys with enrolled participants, screening of potentially eligible patients and consenting patients as well as maintaining accurate and updated manuals of procedures for the studies.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The candidate must have very strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills, and must be able to work independently. It is essential that the candidate be able to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines and apply those guidelines appropriately. The candidate must have demonstrated experience and/or ability in organizing workflow and coordinating multiple priorities. The candidate must be familiar with HIPAA and have completed formal training. The candidate must be familiar with the concepts of Good Clinical Practice.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in recruiting and working in clinical research. Working knowledge of REDcap. Working knowledge of Epic (EMR).The preferred candidate must have a robust experience working with MS Office, which includes MS Excel and MS Access (or similar database software) and an electronic medical record. The preferred candidate must be familiar with data entry, database management and data storage requirements for research. The preferred candidate must have experience working with the IRB, and experience working in an academic medical center. A minimum of 2 years experience is preferred.
