Description

Washington College is seeking qualified applications for the Nurse Practitioner position. The Nurse Practitioner provides primary care and urgent care to college students and provides consultation and advice to students as a specialized practitioner in college health. As appropriate she/he consults with colleagues and collaborates with other members of our wellness and academic teams. The Nurse Practitioner is a full-time, 10-month position.

Washington College is a private liberal arts and sciences college in Chestertown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Essential duties:

  • Provide primary and urgent care to all full-time, matriculated students

  • Provide consultation and advice to students as a specialized practitioner in the field of college health

  • Possess a demonstrated awareness of and appreciation for the physical and mental health needs of a diverse student body, most of whom are between the ages of 18-22.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in health, counseling, athletic training, disabilities services, student and academic affairs as needed to support the student success and wellness

  • Provide a non-judgmental environment to facilitate communication with students regarding sensitive health issues.

  • Work in fast-paced college health environment.

  • Possess excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

  • Work cooperatively as part of a service- based unit to support the mission of Washington College Wellness team.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, i.e. Word, Excel, ability to learn EHR system

Experience/Requirements:

  • Masters of Science NP or DNP in Nursing with current, unrestricted Maryland NP license

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner, prefer candidate with urgent care, ER or fast paced family practice experience.

  • Board of Nursing and Pharmacy approved prescriptive authority in the state of Maryland with a valid DEA/CDS number.

  • Proof of malpractice coverage

  • Current CPR, ACLS certification and completion of Hep B vaccination series or proof of immunity by titer required.
