Description

The Washington College Department of Business Management seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track teaching position in Accounting starting in August of 2024. The College will hire at the assistant-professor level. Candidates should have a Master of Accounting or MBA as well as CPA certification in hand at the start of employment. Ph.D. or D.B.A. in an Accounting-related discipline preferred. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester, including Introduction to Financial Accounting and upper level accounting courses. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the college-wide first year writing and research program. Excellence in teaching and productive scholarship are expected. Enthusiasm about teaching in a liberal-arts environment (with an emphasis on critical thinking, writing, speaking, and faculty-student interaction) is essential in the successful candidate. This is an opportunity for candidates who would thrive in a collegial environment that supports research, encourages interdisciplinary efforts within and beyond the department, and provides mentorship for junior faculty. Qualifications
  • Master of Accounting or MBA as well as CPA certification in hand at the start of employment. Ph.D. or D.B.A. in an Accounting-related discipline preferred.

  • 3+ years teaching college-age students in a college or university setting, with a strong preference for experience with first-year and/or first-generation students.

  • Published articles or evidence of scholarship.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum, prepare course materials, and evaluate student performance against established metrics.

  • Enthusiasm about teaching in a liberal-arts environment (with an emphasis on critical thinking, writing, speaking, and faculty-student interaction) is essential in the successful candidate.

  • Excellent presentation skills and knowledge of pedagogy.
