POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Senior Buyer reports to the Purchasing Manager
  • Located in San Diego, CA

As a seasoned Senior Buyer, you will lead strategic procurement initiatives and play a key role in shaping our purchasing strategies. Leveraging your experience, you will drive efficiency in procurement processes, ensuring optimal pricing, quantities, and timelines. Building on established relationships with internal teams and suppliers, you will contribute to the organization's overall success by managing complex purchasing scenarios, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership:
    • Lead strategic procurement initiatives to optimize pricing, quantities, and timing.
    • Provide expertise in negotiating complex agreements to achieve favorable terms.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Manage and strengthen relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability and strategic alignment.
    • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, and finance, to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior procurement staff.
  • RFQ Management:
    • Oversee the creation and analysis of comprehensive RFQ packages to support informed decision-making.
  • Contract Management:
    • Manage contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance and maximizing value for the organization.
    • Develop and negotiate complex contracts and rebates.
  • Issue Resolution and Continuous Improvement:
    • Proactively address and resolve complex issues related to purchasing, invoicing, and supplier performance.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior procurement staff.
  • Advanced negotiation skills, especially in dealing with complex procurement agreements.
  • Ability to think strategically and align procurement activities with broader organizational objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make informed and strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 - 6 years of buying/planning/sourcing/negotiating experience in a senior-level capacity, preferably in a distribution environment, or equivalent military or practical experience.
  • Proven experience in contract management and negotiations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex procurement processes.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.

In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
