OSI Optoelectronics is seeking a In-Process Inspector to perform inspections, check testing and sampling procedures for product manufacturing processes. This individual will carry out packaging line, manufacturing inspections and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that company standards are met. In addition, they will monitor critical equipment and instrumentation. This individual may draft procedures and assist with validating or troubleshooting testing methods, including assays. Also, they may apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.


Responsibilities

  • Performs routine checks, tests, gauging, and instrument inspections of materials, goods in process, and finished goods. Primarily a sedentary job requiring the inspection of assembly and sub assembly parts. Selects parts, returns to a workstation, and performs a visual inspection or does dimensional inspection using calibrated instruments.
  • Performs assigned routine tests on materials, goods in process, or finished goods where results are compared with company quality standards. Reports results and helps supervisor/production engineers take necessary action.
  • Performs detailed visual inspection when necessary to determine quality of product where limits are not clearly defined. Removes defectives and places acceptable product back on line.
  • Notifies supervisor when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted.
  • Records results on inspection forms or charts and reports number of defects found.
  • May act as quality control department clerk, maintaining all quality records for the facility.
  • Maintains conforming product reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in microelectronic production environment required.
  • Basic knowledge of techniques for calibration and for assuring product quality.
  • Ability to coordinate with production control and purchasing to obtain quotes, quote approvals, and place orders for calibration test services, equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Soldering inspection experience required. IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 soldering inspection certification preferred.
  • Fluency with fractions, decimals, angles, dates and percentages, and AQL sample size determination.
  • Ability to read drawings\blueprints and drawing dimensional call-outs and identify associated inspection techniques.
  • Understanding of microelectronic inspection concepts and tool sets with ability to inspect assemblies and components with minimal guidance.
  • Competence with measuring tools (e.g., optical measurement microscope, calipers, pin gage, comparator, microscope reticle, digital multi-meter) and test tools (e.g., die shear, wire bond pull, hermeticity test).
  • Basic knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485. Must be able to read, write, and verbally effectively communicate in the business language (English).
  • Working knowledge of computer basic skills and Microsoft Office. Manufacturing inventory software knowledge, a plus.
