Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Specification Specialist to join our architectural practice in the east region. In the role of Specification Specialist, we'll count on you to:

  • Provide specification development as necessary for project needs.
  • Reinforce tools and processes to office
  • Report up about lessons learned, project experiences, needed innovation, tools, and processes.
  • Work with regional and Architectural Business Group leadership to implement innovation and new processes.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of specification masters.
  • Promote and connect users with training, educational, and communication resources.
  • Ensure local office is utilizing the latest tools, templates, and standards.
  • Mentor staff in understanding digital processes and tools.
  • Provide project wide and just-in-time training.
  • Promote specification communications.
  • Share tools and initiative development.
  • Provide feedback from project experience about needed specifications and products.
  • Communicate issues and challenges to the Architectural Business Group.
  • Provide office wide support for all specification needs.
  • Lead large project teams in the management of specifications.
  • Lead project startups for projects.
  • Assist with consultant specifications and integration
  • Assure compliance with project contract language, proposals, deliverables.
  • Assists project leadership in aligning user skillsets with project needs regarding specs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with specifications
  • Knowledge in the ability to recommend materials, procedures, and technical specifications requirements and contents
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Federal UFGS Specifications and SpecsIntact software.
  • Preference given to local candidates

The expected compensation range for this position in New York City is $103,169 - $139,581 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
