Summary:

The Bridge Superintendent coordinates all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, influence and manage day-to-day activities of division staff in line with established policies, practices and procedures. Direct reports include Bridge superintendents, foremen and support staff,
  • Assist directly in establishing long and short-term planning of objectives and projects,
  • Effectively manage overall planning and implementation of division projects,
  • Experience with electronic job reporting such as ProCore or Heavy Job,
  • Set clear expectations for teams, communicate and follow-up regularly, and hold team members accountable,
  • Provide division with appropriate staff, resources, and direction required to fulfill business development, financial, estimating, and operational goals,
  • Oversee performance of design and construction phase of contract commitments to ensure profitability and timely execution of work,
  • Maintain close contact with the Senior Vice President, project manager(s), project engineers for large projects,
  • Provide regular feedback to ownership on projects,
  • Ensure that all resources assigned are maintained, protected, secured, and used at optimum efficiency,
  • Minimized cost overruns,
  • Stay ahead of industry direction/ changes and provide competitive information to carry out the company's vision,
  • Oversee bidding and estimating,
  • Lead and facilitate meetings,
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • leading large teams in a bridge construction setting
  • 5 years' bridge construction industry experience,
  • 5 years' experience in heavy highway construction,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, decision-making ability, strong MS Office and quantitative reasoning skills required,
  • Strong track record of effective management of construction work, resulting in completion of contracts within time and cost limits required,
  • Track record of solid decision making in complex environments,
  • Superior leadership skills,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills,
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills,
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required;
  • Must be knowledgeable and have certifications of OHSA 30, OSHA 10, Responsible Land Disturber (RDL), Erosion and Sediment Control, and Intermediate Work zone Traffic Control Training.
  • Valid driver's license,
  • Covid-19 is vaccination highly recommended,
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
