The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I or II, under the leadership of the ROI Supervisor, is responsible for performing ROI functions across all hospitals in the health system. This includes interpreting all types of requests for copies of medical records, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the privacy and security of protected health information.

Minimum Qualifications:

Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I

  • High School or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a customer service environment preferred.

Release of Information (ROI) Specialist II

  • Associates Degree preferably in Health Information Management or AHIMA ROI micro-credential and six months work experience in HIM
  • In Lieu of Associate's Degree or AHIMA ROI micro-credential, high school diploma or GED along with two years of work experience in HIM.

Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

RHIT preferred.
