Overview

LMI is seeking for a Product Owner to support a federal program management office (PMO) charged with planning, acquiring, and managing the deployment and operation of technology and capabilities to keep our borders safe. We are seeking an energetic self-starter who is focused on practical and efficient solutions delivered by an interdisciplinary, collaborative team. This individual will provide quality assurance support to the client's program management office, located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

Agile development Product Owner will conduct end-to-end analysis, design, and development of highly complex systems and understand the scope of the upcoming enabler work. Product Owner will oversee the entire product development process and will work with a variety of teams, scrum masters and product developers to ensure the final product meets certain requirements and preferences. Product Owner will collect and define requirements to be used in future user stories for development.

Specific responsibilities may include:

    Oversee all stages of product creation, design, and development
  • Elicit, analyze, document and trace requirements
  • Act as a liaison between the product team and end-users to deliver updates
  • Collaborate with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements
  • Design and communicates feature description to government and contracting support stakeholders, including development of user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Define the vision for the team's product and create a product road map based on this vision
  • Participate in scrum meetings and product sprints
  • Build, edit, maintain product backlog with input from key stakeholders prioritize them based in changing requirements
  • Define and implement improvement stories that will increase the velocity and quality of the product
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process
  • Produce System demos for program and key stakeholders, and participate in retrospective activities
  • Lead and prepare Program Increment (PI) planning activities and program backlog refinement; Communicates story detail and priorities and ensures the team aligns and agrees on a final iteration plan
  • Work with the team to agree on accepted story completion, this includes validating that the story meets acceptance criteria, that it has the appropriate, persistent acceptance tests, and that it complies with its definition of done
  • Participate in the preparation of system demo
Qualifications
  • SENIOR LEVEL: 10+ years of relevant experience and a STEM BS degree or 7 years relevant experience and a MS degree in systems engineering.
  • Experience in managing or leading IT programs or projects including technical solution development where software, hardware, and networks are major system components
  • In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology
  • Working knowledge of product development architecture
  • Proficiency in the use of analytic tools
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Excellent knowledge of user-centered design principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to work with large teams
  • Understanding of design quality standards
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a comprehensive government security investigation must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information. The background investigation includes financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, and employment verifications. US citizenship required
  • Highly Preferred: Active/Full U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI
  • This position is contingent upon completion of CBP BI, customer approval and funding
