The FIU Model-Data Analytics Strategist (Strategist) is responsible for developing and maintaining the integrity and control of all FIU systems, models, and tools, data flows into/out of each, utilized in BSA-AML-Sanctions-Fraud monitoring and reporting compliance functions. The Strategist is responsible for reporting any identified operational viability issues and lack of availability of anti-money laundering and list screening software programs promptly to the FIU Systems Data Governance Manager or designee. The FIU Model-Data Analytics Strategist will continually partner with technology, operations, and other areas within the FIU to maintain effective systems and controls, including adherence to enterprise-wide model risk and change management guidelines as required. The FIU Model-Data Analytics Strategist is responsible for developing and maintaining dashboards and analytics tools to support all areas within the FIU, risk assessments, business line, senior management and Board reporting, and first line monitoring as directed by the FIU Data Administrator. The FIU Model-Data Analytics Strategist will assist during preparation of audits and exams, compiling specific request items related to systems and data governance; may assist with other third-party engagements, including, but not limited to, model validations and tuning and calibration exercises. The FIU Model-Data Analytics Strategist will have deep understanding of data linage, data elements, and data mapping for the systems that are utilized by the FIU.

Position Accountabilities

FIU Models & Data:

  • Develop procedures, ensure escalations are followed for the continued oversight of the FIU Data Governance Program that includes suggestions or enhancements to the program that provides scalability for future growth of Atlantic Union Bank.
  • Responsible for providing analytic reports of all FIU data issues to the FIU Systems-Data Governance Administrator or FIU System & Data Governance Manager.
  • Design decision-maker for FIU Management documentation required for all models/systems/process the FIU model inventory to include revising if necessary.
  • Responsible for meeting FIU key performance and key risk indicators.
  • Continual development, design and maintain data analytics to be used in the above/below the line tuning, calibration, regression testing, impact analysis, testing documentation, qualitative and quantitative analysis and gap analysis of all FIU Models.
  • Responsible for daily oversight review and escalation of periodic balancing and data validation processes to ensure accuracy of data and systems utilized by other areas within the FIU, in accordance with enterprise-wide model risk management guidelines.
  • Conduct Data Lineage analysis and be able to document for model governance.
  • Subject matter expert on lifecycle of a model.
  • Handle escalation of data issues as received through daily monitoring of the FIU Data Team email box.

Reporting:

  • Design and develop integrated BI Solutions (Dashboards, Reports) using industry leading BI Tools like Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft 365 programs to monitor, analysis and track data quality trends and metrics along with Power Point for presentations.
  • Develop and maintain various FIU reports and extracts for the following: FIU Risk Assessments, FIU controls reporting, Exam/Audit, Executive reports by using various systems for data extracts.
  • Maintain trend reporting and transaction assessments based on the approved Risk Rating Methodologies.

Organizational Relationship

  • This position will report to the Manager-FIU System-Data Governance

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree from a College or university in the field of Business Administration, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, or Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of Banking, business, or information security related experience is desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL, query tools and Business Intelligence tools like Power BI, IBM Cognos Analytics, Business Objects, Tableau or Python, Jira, Microsoft 365 programs including Power Pont, required
  • 3+ years analysis experience, including documenting business requirements and/or functional specification in a high data driven position
  • CAMS, CAFP, PMO, and/or Six Sigma Certification(s) preferred, but not required.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent communication, leadership and collaboration skills
  • Experience in gathering data and business reporting requirements from all levels of teammates and translating into various reporting solutions including PowerBI and MS Power Point
  • Ability to interpret data, providing high-level analyses of management information
  • Understanding of ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
  • Proven ability as a Data Analyst in building dashboards, scorecards and reports in an integrated manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with management with tact and diplomacy while achieving stated objectives.
  • Proficient written, oral, data analytics, and interpersonal skills with ability to prepare technical presentations.
  • Proficient PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet, database applications and SQL.
  • Ability to write SQL queries and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Tools (SSR, SSAS, SISS)
  • Strong analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude; strategic thinking with the ability to connect the dots during user interactions.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills required with proficiency in business/data analysis and creative problem solving.
  • Strong Data background with an understanding of banking operations, products, processes and procedures
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into data issues and produce gap or impact analysis.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed along with strong critical thinking and engineering/re-engineering skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative and customer centric environment.
  • Familiarity with corporate security policies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and work through data analysis
  • Knowledge of data modeling, metadata collection and documentation
