Overview

This Patient Access Float Rep is responsible for the scheduling and registration of inpatients and outpatients and/or the actual insurance authorization or precertification for provided services. As part of the hospital revenue cycle, the Patient Access Float will obtain accurate insurance and demographic information to ensure that optimum payment is made to the hospital and physicians. Processes assigned workload in a timely and accurate manner. The Patient Access Float will provide the services mentioned above to its customers, including but not limited to clinics and physicians, patients and families, managed care department Health Information Management department and Patient Accounts.

Work Hours:
Mon-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Work Location:
Typically 3 days per week at 4919 Dierker Rd Physician Practice in Upper Arlington
and 2 days per week at 6051 Memorial Dr in Dublin

Responsibilities
    Schedules patients for designated outpatient service, radiology and other ancillary services by answering inbound telephone calls and making outbound calls as needed
  • Maintains an acceptable error rate as defined in department goals
  • Must consistently meet the standard for an acceptable customer service quality score as defined in the department goals. This includes being collaborative, inclusive and respectful of our internal and external customers
  • Collects and updates patient information in Epic to ensure accuracy of demographic, insurance, reason for visit and physician information
  • Establishes and maintains open and professional demeanor and communication with departments and physicians whose services are scheduled by this department
  • Be open to new scheduling processes that support positive outcomes.
Qualifications

Education: High school graduate. Associates degree preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work and problem solve with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand and retain complex and quickly changing information
  • Knowledge of the impact of the revenue cycle on hospital operations
  • Familiar with medical terminology
  • Able to function as a team member responsible for staffing operational hours
  • Ability to adapt to change positively in work flow and process
  • Keyboarding/typing/data entry skills

Experience:

  • One-year pre-registration, registration, customer service experience.
