OVERVIEW

This position involves daily laboratory testing of food products and execution of Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) programs. The position requires significant attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Shift Information:
Job works a 2-2-3 schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off)
Role is for a 12 hour shift that starts at 1 pm and ends at 1 am.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Follow lab and plant safety requirements
  • Accurate weighing, pipetting and quantitative transfer of solutions and samples, ability to safely work with hazardous compounds, preparation of solutions
  • Operation of lab equipment; and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Operate and maintain a laboratory as part of a team.
  • Organize workload to maximize result output and meet deadlines.
  • Conduct analytical testing analysis
  • Adhere to FSQ and lab requirements.
  • Maintain a work environment that complies with safety rules.
  • Communicate with Operations and FSQ on issues
  • Conduct monthly sanitation & product safety audits.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of plant audit programs to assure effective execution of quality and food safety programs, such as Quality Index, FSRA (Food Safety and Regulatory Assessment), HACCP, Integrated Pest Management, GMP's.
  • Support plant tests, capability studies and start-ups, as needed including additional analytical test requests.
  • Approval of product against specifications
  • Working closely in partnership with team leaders and technicians to influence quality decisions and support productivity
  • Additional duties may exist as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-Year Degree in a Science related field OR High School Degree with 2+ years of lab, food manufacturing or other related experiences
  • Must work well in a team setting with adaptability, flexibility, collaboration and strong teamwork
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgement, problem solving and strong integritywhile delivering results
  • Ability to organize workload and maintain proper documentation
  • Basic mechanical skills with the ability to think critically and analytically
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Display flexibility based on changing business and laboratory needs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to remain standing for minimum of 2 hours
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ownership and responsibility for tasks and high-quality work output
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in basic Word, Excel, and MQIS preferred

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $41100.00 - $56700.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role.
