The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
JOID assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to military services and COCOMs. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.
Systems Planning and Analysis has an immediate need for a Data Scientist to provide onsite support in Lorton, VA.
The Data Scientist SME will provide Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS) to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Chemical and Biological Technologies Department, Digital Battlespace Management Division (RD-CBI). Apply subject matter expertise and support to the Government for science and technology (S&T) projects aimed at developing modeling and simulation tools for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) support. The candidate will support management of technical projects that focus on developing algorithm tools which will improve understanding of and decisions in CB contested environments. Apply a strong expertise in analyzing, interpreting, and applying predictive modeling tools to advise and assist with the development/evaluation of Statements of Work (SOW) for CB data collection trials to support algorithm development for CB specific modeling. Other position duties include analyzing large data sets from performers to extract useable information for decision making; analyzing data for trends; advising on technical soundness of performer developed algorithms and models; and performing data analysis and preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence to clearly communicate recommendations and conclusions. Will prepare technical documentation and presentations to explain approaches, associated assumptions, and conclusions of scientific investigations. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing proposals, technical reports, experimental or theoretical techniques, scientific studies, and statements of work to ensure technical validity to evaluate current and future CBRN technologies. Will also collaborate with the Project Management team on acquisition and procurement tasks.
