RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world's premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Background Information:

This full-time position is within the Range Safety Office of the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. This position will provide technical support to the Range Safety Office to include Flight Safety

System analysis/development/testing/certification, and analysis of Unmanned Systems Contingency Management Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and providing analyses that will enhance the operation of NAVAIR safety systems.
  • Developing documentation, used as guidance for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) and range safety policy and practices.
  • Reviewing external documentation for compliance with higher guidance such as RCC-319
  • Specifying operational requirements for flight safety systems used to ensure containment of hazards associated with testing of missiles or UAV test articles.
  • Testing and operating flight safety systems
  • Developing requirements for other Range Safety Systems in support of RDT&E
  • Creating and maintaining supporting engineering documents
  • Some overtime and travel may be required

Educational, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or in a related discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university is required
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and on teams producing completed staff work to include technical reports, analysis of test results, and compliance with delineated requirements.
  • Broad technical/engineering knowledge required
  • Applicant must be a self-starter, flexible, and team-oriented to be able to work smoothly as a member of a technical team
  • Computer literacy required
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Strong communication verbal and written skills required
  • Flight test experience desired
  • Military experience desired but not required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass Drug Screening

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Department of Defense (DoD) issued Top Secret Clearance

Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
