How will you make an impact?

The Manager Manufacturing Engineering (Engineering Operations) will manage the Engineering organization toward its primary technological objectives, based on long-term product and profitability goals, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

What will you do?

  • Develop and sustain manufacturability of the company's products that meet the company's product roadmap, beginning from demonstrated, feasible technical concepts.
  • Serves as Program Manager providing technical project management, systems engineering, and systems integration leadership to engineering projects.
  • Manage a smooth transfer of knowledge and technology of development projects from R&D into Manufacturing.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and contract manufacturers for technology and process transfers or improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and manages reporting and project management systems to efficiently track projects, resources, and timing.
  • Establish goals, track performance to goals, and provide performance reviews per Glaukos Performance Management System.
  • Establishes current and long-range, annual operating plans and objectives subject to approval by Sr. Management.
  • Assigns technical tasks to direct reports, performs project resource loading.
  • Assist in creating budgets, allocates resources and determines schedules in support of the Company's Product Development Roadmap and continuous Product Improvement Objectives.
  • Dispenses advice, guidance, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and Management.
  • Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • The Manager, Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical or Mechanical and Aerospace) required.
  • 8+ years industry experience
  • 1 year of previous management experience
  • A strong engineering background, the ideal candidate will have a background in systems, electrical, software or industrial engineering.
  • Must have strong process skills, development and verification and validation experience and experience in implementing an engineering design control process to meet FDA, QSR and ISO 9000 requirements.
