Description

The Head Data, Analytics, and Automation is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, implementation, and management of enterprise data and data usage in partnership and collaboration across divisions and countries. You will be critical in shaping the strategic direction of Save the Children, serving as a thought leader and cultural change agent, breaking down silos, establishing a data-driven mindset, and propelling the global Save the Children Movement as a modern nongovernmental organization (NGO) and a sector force-multiplier.

In this role, you will be a key leader in driving:

  • How we make program bid and design decisions to achieve goals for children, i.e., what works to influence norms and behaviors to reduce violence; what is the impact of cash programming; and what are our nutrition, health, learning, and protection outcomes for children facing the greatest inequities
  • How we understand and engage supporters and partners to influence policy change, mobilize markets, take action, and/or donate
  • How we ensure the approaches we are advocating governments and other at-scale service providers deliver are cost effective
  • How we achieve operational and productivity excellence, i.e., financial management, talent development, supply chain and procurement, etc.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Data, Analytics, and Automation Leadership (40%)

You will lead the creation and implementation of an overall data strategy and drive a data-informed culture across the Agency and global Movement, including:

  • Data architecture standards and principles
  • Data forecasting, modeling, and visualization
  • Data insights analysis, dashboards, and reporting
  • Data governance, management, and stewardship
  • Data protection policies and procedures (with security, risk, and compliance)
  • Introduce & implement automation whenever applicable.
  • Lead division on A.I. opportunities that adhere to agency's high standards & safeguards.

Influential & Cultural Leadership (30%)

This role will require significant political savviness to navigate substantial business change, including:

  • Thinking outside-in vs inside-out
  • Starting with business strategy and goals (not technology and data)
  • Breaking down silos to collaborate across divisions and countries
  • Influencing multiple stakeholders to act with a community mind-set
  • Driving a new way of work, i.e., data champions, data communities of practice, human-centered design, agile and product management.

Team Leadership (30%)

This role sits on the Chief Technology Officer (CTO)'s Senior Management Team and closely partners with Business and Technology Solutions (BTS) peers, our business partners, and the vendor community. As such, you will continue to build and manage a business-oriented and enterprise-wide function relatively new to SCUS. You will lead a team of managers and staff, including:

  • Leading the strategic and operational direction for the team structure, i.e., functional competencies, managers, internal staff, outsourced staff, and vendors
  • Developing a high-performing functional team integrated into a matrixed BTS division who understands and delivers solutions for the needs of the mission, business, and users
  • Establishing team norms, ground rules, standards, and best practices
  • Managing individual and teamwork and needs, i.e., goal setting, prioritization, professional development, staff care, etc.
  • Coaching team members as they navigate complex challenges and advocating for them when needed to facilitate collaboration and partnership across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 15 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in:
    • Data architecture, forecasting, modeling, visualization
    • Data governance, management, and stewardship
    • Data insights analysis, dashboards, and reporting
    • Data protection policies and procedures, partnering with security, risk, and compliance.
  • Proven success in:
    • Understanding and deconstructing business strategy and goals in order to provide data solutions that have quantifiable impact.
    • Influencing multiple stakeholders across business units at all levels to adopt a community mind-set.
    • Building a business-oriented data function and solutions "from scratch", including enabling business partners to scale a data-driven culture through user groups and self-service tools.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership skills with proven ability to build, upskill, and lead high-performing teams
  • Proven ability to successfully navigate and work through complex business challenges, including competing priorities, changing environments, and tight timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to balance independent decision-making with consensus building, navigating when each is required depending on the situation
  • Proven knowledge and experience in:
    • Agile and product management
    • Data solutions and tools, ie, Power BI, Azure BI Platform, Tableau, etc
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $188,700 - $210,900 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $171,700 - $191,900 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $154,700 - $172,900 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available ). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
