Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a 508 Compliance Tester to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Herndon, VA with some remote work possible. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative will modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers.

This position requires strong background in web accessibility standards, particularly Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and extensive experience in testing and ensuring compliance of digital products and applications. As a 508 Compliance tester, you will be responsible for leading and executing comprehensive accessibility testing across various platforms to ensure products are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Duties and Responsibilities:

    Design, develop, and implement test and evaluation strategies, plans, and methods to assure 508 accessibility compliance in the system.
  • Evaluate discrepancy reports to verify/validate incorporated fixes affecting systems and enterprise capabilities.
  • Ensure systems and enterprise capabilities comply with requirements and standards through formal verification methods.
  • Perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive system evaluation reports, findings, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in writing/eliciting Epics and decomposing them into User Stories and creating acceptance test criteria for each user story.
  • Participate in the meetings and interface with various team(s) and program staff as required.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, standards, and regulations related to web accessibility and assistive technologies.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal communication coupled with strong listening skills.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 5-7 years' of experience or Master's Degree and 3-5 years' of experience or high school diploma and minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
  • Certification in accessibility (ex: CPACC, WAS, IAAP).
  • Extensive experience in conducting accessibility testing and remediation for products, including web-based applications and mobile apps.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Participated in Agile projects.
  • SAFe and/or DevOps implementation experience.
  • Experience testing web-based applications.
  • Experience writing automated test scripts a plus.
  • 508 Accessibility Compliance experience.
  • Proficiency in using accessibility testing tools such as screen readers (ex: JAWS, NVDA), browser extensions (ex: Axe, WAVE), and automated testing tools (ex: Accessibility Insights, pa11y).
  • Experience with assistive technologies and familiarity with the user experience.
  • Must have a current, active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearance acceptable.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
