As a Journeyman Marine Propulsion Engineer, you will:

A week in the life of a Journeyman Marine Propulsion Engineer:

  • Design, development, and evaluation and operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as power supply and propulsion systems.
  • Review third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems
  • Perform design reviews, evaluations constructability reviews, helping resolve technical uses and managing information generated through design and construction phase
  • Support marine engineering analysis related to vessels
  • Help team to create graphical representations of structures
  • Inspect equipment or systems
  • Research advanced engineering designs or applications
  • Support in preparation of technical reports for internal use
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or High School diploma and 11+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance

At least 5+ years of experience:

  • Progressively responsible experience in marine specific fields (i.e. propulsion systems, power-generation systems, fluids and hydraulics)
  • Experience with Auto-CAD
  • Familiarity with ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
