Job Description

The Application Engineer position supports Danfoss Climate Solutions in North America with a focus on air conditioning and refrigeration OEM sales by providing component and system expertise for overall support in the selection, qualification, and application of all Climate Solutions components. This position works together with the Regional and Global Key Account Managers to realize the overall sales and business development plans for the region. The Application Engineer is a vital technical link to our customers and ensures that critical application knowledge obtained in the field is communicated back into our factories for continuous improvement and development of new products.

This is a remote position. Our preference is this candidate be in the Eastern or Central Time Zones, located near a major airport. The focus support for this role will be rooftop units.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

1. Support the Global & Regional Key Account & Sales Manager's business development plans
* Participate in/perform product and training presentations including new product introductions
* Assist in any related technical, quality, or sales activity to support the overall business objective
* Support the product sampling process
* Support and help build value selling propositions
* Frequent customer visits to improve overall visibility
* Identify the critical sales factors in customer projects and propose/drive activities from a technical standpoint

2. Ensure the proper selection, application, and qualification of Danfoss Cooling Components
* Obtain a proper understanding of the application and assist in the product selection process directly with the customers
* Coordinate technical decisions and activities with Danfoss factories, Sales Engineers, and internal technical resources as required
* Ensure customers have all proper product selection tools and literature
* Assist in qualification testing with the customer as required
* Coordinate & align all activities with appropriate Account Managers

3. Ensure Danfoss Cooling components are being properly handled and installed by our customers
* Regular visits to the customer (more frequent during product start-up/ramp-up phase)
* Provide routine product and installation troubleshooting support
* Coordinate with Regional Quality Coordinators to ensure products are returned to Danfoss factories for proper evaluation
* Follow and track activities regarding customer claims

4. Provide customer field support
* Assist in system start-ups
* Provide troubleshooting and problem solving

5. Coordinate technical matters
* Participate in regional/global Application and Quality forums
* Participate in factory visits/meetings
* Coordination required with technical factory resources (R&D, manufacturing, marketing, quality, etc)
* Interact with factories to expedite answers to customer claims (i.e. inspection reports)

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications
* 5+ years experience in HVAC/Refrigeration
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required
* Willing and able to travel regionally (and sometimes internationally) - approximately 40% of travel required

Preferred Qualifications
* Account management and business processes tool experience desirable
* Global experience preferable

* MS Office experience is required, SAP/BW/CRM experience is desirable
