Overview:

SCCI is seeking a mid-to-senior level Proposal Writer to join our Strategy and Business Development (BD) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and editing technical content in support of federal proposal activities across business areas, and building and maintaining a proposal library. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

This position supports remote and flexible work arrangements. Candidates interested in full-time, part-time, or consulting arrangements are encouraged to apply. Please indicate preference on your application.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for end-to-end development of proposal written volumes
    • Research, write, and organize information in a professional and credible manner
    • Develop and assemble inputs into a coherent proposal format, with attention to content, coverage, clarity, and voice consistency. Edit and revise proposals according to team feedback
    • Maintain quality results by using templates and following proposal-writing standards
    • Develop graphics and/or coordinate with Graphic Artists to develop visuals
    • Establish priorities and target dates for assigned tasks from information gathering through development and review. Track and report status to proposal team
    • Improve results by eliciting post-proposal feedback, incorporating lessons learned, and evaluating and redesigning processes and approach
  • Support the BD team in all stages of proposal development
  • Maintain proposal libraries and repositories, and support continual process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in Proposal Development and Business Development meetings, as required

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
  • A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field with experience in DoD or highly technical field; OR a Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, or technology field with experience developing documentation
  • Experience developing persuasive or technical documentation, demonstrating written communication skills, and collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines, developing material that is consistent, factual, and convincing

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in proposal writing
  • Demonstrated strategic planning abilities
