Job Summary: Extensive contact and interfacing with all areas of the business, purchasing, floor control, quality, shipping and receiving, configuration management, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, program management, accounting, and the customer. Read and interpret engineering drawings and Design Change Requests. Prepare complex manufacturing plans (work orders) using various engineering, design and manufacturing documents. Administer and analyze production work flow for a single or multiple programs. Extensive usage of Material Requirements Planning system to plan, firm, release, cancel, scrap, allocate, move, split, overlap, create work orders and purchasing requisitions. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction.

Job Details:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

* Management of assigned commodities for various projects and contracts

* Establish production order policies, testing and inspection points, sequence of operations and queue times

* Assure that the completion and release of the manufacturing plans and support production delivery requirements

* Ensure parts and/or materials are available for manufacturing to perform the work

* Coordinate with Shop Floor Control when necessary

* Prepares change and authorize purchase requisition

* Support tasks include schedule change, work order and purchase order, expediting of metrics, capacity problems and overall project status, etc.

* Position requires the ability to perform trouble shooting the problems that occur within the production environment

* Interface with Quality Assurance, Program Management and Customer for the shipping of final product

* Evaluate and determine Project requirements using information from Manufacturing Schedule and Material Requirements Planning reports

* Create and maintain record of project status and task metrics

* Evaluate Material Requirements Planning reports and analyze impact of changes to schedule flow

* Evaluate and determine lot sizing and its impact on production flow

* Interpret drawing tree structures and build order relationships

* Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Program Management, and Purchasing on engineering changes and priority changes which may impact outsourcing vendors and production schedules

* Responsible for material order policies and lead-times

* Accountable for the accurate purchase of material based on the contract requirements

* Communicate all major project changes of the bills of materials to Purchasing and follow through to closure

* Assign planner codes to new part numbers and cross checks alternate part numbers to maintain an efficient planning database

* Maintain material requisitions, planned orders, and inventory transaction records on-line and hardcopy

Minimum Job Requirements:

Two year college degree, or equivalent, plus four years of progressively responsible production expediting, coordinating, or planning experience in a manufacturing environment working with Material Requirements Planning systems. APICS or MAPICS certification preferred. Working knowledge of the functionality of Material Requirements Planning in a manufacturing environment. Extensive knowledge of Bills of Materials and their working relationships with parts list. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. Must have basic Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. Requires extensive detail on revision level and drawing changes which impact supplier and scheduled deliveries. Able to read engineering fabrication drawings and understand engineering and manufacturing Bills of Materials. Requires strong understanding of machinery capabilities. Must make decisions concerning priorities, cost, lead times, and availability for production needs. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Able to prioritize, delegate, complete multiple tasks and work under deadlines. Must react to changing requirements and make decisions and adjustments accordingly. Requires strong attention to details and analytical ability. Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance if necessary.
