Job Description

A week in the life of a Network Engineer:

  • Collaborate with systems architects to design, implement, and optimize customer networks in accordance with ICD 503 guidelines and good practices.
  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN), to include installing and configuring networking hardware.
  • Investigating and resolving operational problems.
  • Working on teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases to integrate within the customer's production IT environment.
  • Plan and lead network projects for network installation and upgrade, including assigning milestone tasks to personnel and meeting customer deadlines for full implementation.
  • Responsible for all network data transport (Layer 3 and below) and overall network traffic routing on the LAN and WAN
  • Manage IP address space allocation and track IP address permanent assignments
  • Create and implement network security measures (access authentication, STIG implementation, etc.)
  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain firewalls.
  • Monitor syslog events and implement changes to improve security posture.
  • Work with systems administrators, cyber security officers and CNDSP to manage and approve ports and protocols requests.
  • Assist cyber security officers on collecting and reporting information required during RMF A&A activities.
  • Conduct regular network performance tests.
  • Resolve escalated network support issues and document resolution in the ticketing system and other documentation as needed.
  • Research and analyze new network technologies and present suggestions for upgrades to improve existing communications network.
Job Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance w/Poly a MUST
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification. One of the following:
    • CCNA-Security
    • CySA+
    • GICSP
    • GSEC
    • Security+ CE
    • CND
    • SSCP
  • At least 5+years of experience in:
    • Working with Palo Alto
    • Working with Cisco Routers and Switches
    • Firewalls deployment, configuration, and migration
    • Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms, services, architectures/ designs, and best practices

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The hourly range for this position is $120K - 140K per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
