Job Description:

The Control Technician role is critical for various tasks including but not limited to the assembly, installation, commissioning, and testing of industrial control systems and control panels. Our team is seeking an individual who is adaptable and skilled in various technical disciplines.

This position is located in Aurora, Colorado, requiring full-time presence at the local jobsite with no remote work option available.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Execute the installation and commissioning of industrial electrical controls, including but not limited to 480V 3-phase, 110V, 24V, and 12V systems.
  • Interpret electrical control panel drawings to layout components.
  • Configure and install PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), power meters, process instruments, protective relays, and other smart digital devices, enhancing system functionality and integration.
  • Install hard-wired Motor Control Centers, Combination Starters, Start-Stop Stations, E-Stop Circuits, Control Relays, and Timers, establishing robust control mechanisms for industrial applications.
  • Terminate PLC and network communications, ensuring connectivity and communication across control systems.
  • Maintain and update drawings and configuration documentation related to instrumentation and control systems, preserving system integrity, and facilitating future maintenance and upgrades.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions, effectively work from circuit diagrams, manufacturer's manuals, design drawings, and P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) drawings, facilitating accurate installation and troubleshooting. Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors, and prepare necessary documentation and manuals.
  • Utilize a variety of standard personal hand-tools and equipment, ensuring their proper maintenance and care.
  • Identify any issues related to quality or constructability and report these to the appropriate leadership.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment throughout the jobsite and installation processes.
  • Ability to recognize wire sizes and colors and install according to provided drawings.
  • Follow all safety practices and procedures meticulously.

Strongly Desired Skills:

  • Terminate signal and control wiring at industrial control panels.
  • Adept in using HMI software for testing and troubleshooting in commissioning environments. Experience with one or more HMI software options, including Ignition Designer, Emerson PAC Machine, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk, GE Digital iFix, Siemens WinCC, or Wonderware InTouch, is strongly preferred.
  • Test industrial control panels, ensuring adherence to design specifications, UL 508A standards and operational requirements.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, and/or assembly plant environment working with industrial controls.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Eager to take on new challenges.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree or Technical College is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in areas related to control systems, panel fabrication, or similar fields.
  • Must pass a background investigation and drug test.

Abilities:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
  • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office & Excel
  • Competency with light power tools, measuring and wiring equipment, and diagnostic devices.
  • Good vision (correctable), ability to discern colors, and effective communication skills in English.

Certifications:

  • CPR/First Aid certification required within six (6) months of hire (provided by the company).
  • NFPA 70E certification (provided by the company).

Pay Rate: $26.00 - $39.65
