What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures.

Create Mix Designs and Ensure Design Specifications for Projects. Work closely with Sales and the Sales Service Center to review specifications for bid requests and troubleshoot designs with customers as needed. Investigate mix performance issues as required. Respond to customer inquiries as needed and negotiate design requests. Serve as liaison and point of contact for customers, contractors, and agencies.

Internal Subject Matter Expert. Responsible for providing technical support to sales, operations, and customers in the Northeast Division footprint. This includes overseeing and implementing the quality control program at ready mix operations, providing technical assistance to the sales group and customers, and working closely with external entities such as various DOT engineers and private engineers to promote Vulcan's products.

Maintain Compliance. Ensure all assigned plants comply with Vulcan's safety and operations policies and procedures. Ensure all materials are according to specifications and quality standards. Ensure the concrete lab continues to comply with ASTM C1077.

Manage Process Improvement. Direct process improvement goals and objectives for sites to ensure that productivity and efficiency goals are met. Establish and measure performance standards for technical support groups. Share best practices throughout the Division

Manage Performance Manage the annual budget process for assigned areas of responsibility. Ensure assigned plants meet or exceed budget goals and objectives, improve return on their assets, and direct the capital budget for each site to ensure that all capital projects are completed according to AFE and cost projections. Set and achieve performance standards for areas of responsibility.

Association Engagement. Participate in and contribute to applicable national associations such as the NRMCA, ACI, ASTM, and their local chapters.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Must have a Professional Engineer license, preferably with a Civil Engineering background, and be eligible for reciprocity in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

Industry Knowledge. Maintaining extensive ready-mix concrete operational knowledge and extensive knowledge of ASTM, DOT, ACI, and AASHTO practices are needed. Must have a strong background in concrete materials, including mix proportioning, QA/QA, and troubleshooting. Must have industry knowledge of Carbon Cure and continue to work towards a 25% reduction in Vulcan's carbon footprint.

Leadership and Management Skills. Provide strong leadership and guidance to employees, both direct and indirect reports. Motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.

Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of aggregate and ready-mix concrete operational equipment, OSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.

Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.

Financial Knowledge. Must possess knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets.

Flexibility. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
