Nexus-Woodbourne is seeking a Mental Health Residential Shift Supervisor for its Diagnostic Program. Monday - Friday - 3pm - 11:30pm.

Position Summary:

Provide leadership to direct care professionals and ensure the safety of residents and staff during the shift.

Starting Pay Rate at $21.00+ per hour.

Primary responsibilities:

Supervise the operations of the programs and ensure the safety of residents and staff while securing the facility and grounds during the shift.

  • Provide floor supervision by providing work direction to staff, ensuring adequate program coverage, and monitoring resident movement.
  • Respond to and record resident incidents and engage in therapeutic interventions and de-escalations per established policy and protocol. In the event of an elopement, verify resident absences by surveying the facility and its perimeters. Notify appropriate individuals in accordance with established operating procedure.
  • Attend briefing sessions with appropriate staff to maintain pertinent information related to resident supervision and maintain all required resident records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and clients in a respectful and professional manner, while maintaining a high degree of conduct.

Monitor the program milieu and ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment that is positive, respectful, clean, and therapeutic.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and protocols. Supervise fire and health inspections of the facility; document hazards and inform appropriate personnel of status.
  • Remain calm, using sound judgment in the event of an emergency; perform First Aid/CPR procedures and supervise emergency interventions involving staff, inform appropriate personnel and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate boundaries in all staff contact and interactions with residents.
  • Lead, provide work direction and set expectations with direct care staff, leading by example, and fostering a spirit of cooperation, flexibility and collaboration with coworkers and employees.
  • Supervise medication distribution and ensure accuracy of medication log.

Assist in the selection, training, on-going professional development, and performance evaluation of staff.

  • Participate in the interview and selection of staff.
  • Teach, monitor, and facilitate the development of staff skills and knowledge regarding resident issues, individual treatment plans and phases, the provision of direct services, behavior management techniques and therapeutic interventions, compliance regarding Medicaid standards and the preparation and maintenance of resident case files and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Residential Supervisor and provide input for performance evaluations and provide performance management on an ongoing basis. Consult with the Human Resources Department on disciplinary issues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, prioritize, organize and shift work activities, with ability to leverage existing time, staff and resources.

Participate with coworkers as a team on implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services.

  • Remain cognizant of individual resident levels/phases, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly.
  • Engage in therapeutic interventions with residents within treatment parameters, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Report to supervisor signs and symptoms potentially requiring intervention or referral (suicidal or violent tendencies, self-mutilation, eating disorders, etc.).
  • Comply with all documentation and standards including, but not limited to, critical incident reporting.
  • Attend staff meetings regularly and actively participate.

Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required. Remain apprised of and apply Nexus policies and procedures as needed. Understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities.

Ensure confidentiality regarding resident issues, background and treatment and comply with Nexus/Woodbourne Center policies involving resident privacy and confidentiality rules for residents and their families.

Perform other job and work-related responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed.

Required Education and Licensure:

  • Requires an Associate's Degree or an equivalency in credits.
  • Requires 2 years full-time experience in residential care.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prefer 1-year supervisory experience.
