Minimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science (Required) Or Relevant experience in network engineering beyond the minimum required work experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a 1-1 ratio i.e. one year of relevant work experience equals one year of required education.
Minimum Work Experience
- 7 years Hands-on systems engineering experience. (Required) And Prior experience in healthcare industry preferred
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
Required Licenses and Certifications
- One or more of: CCNP, CCIE
Functional Accountabilities
Systems Management
- Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
System Integration/ Implementation
- Engineer and build and maintain network platforms and services.
- Integrate network products into existing network technologies.
- Implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
- Participate in Installation, move, adds and changes in the environment.
- Set and manage deadlines.
System/Project Planning
- Engineer and deploy network infrastructure systems design and configuration.
- Participate in design of Disaster recovery planning.
- Assist in the creation of test plans and scripts for back-up and recovery solutions.
- Assist in the development of network solutions.
- Performs hardware and network diagnosis.
- Capable of devising ways to accomplish a difficult purpose; ability to recognize a problem and construct an effective solution compatible with overall company operations.
Technical Proficiency
- Demonstrate understanding of standard networking protocols, virtual environments, and hybrid cloud.
- Maintain professional expertise through continuing education at conferences, seminars, user group meetings & review of current literature.
- Pursue industry standard technical certifications.
- Provide technical support and consultation to IS staff.
IT Best Practices
- Actively participate in the Department's ITIL processes
- Participate in the Incident Management process; proactively work to resolve Incidents and meet service requests; document relevant data on requests and resolutions in agreed upon timeframe.
- Escalate incidents according to procedures; convert incidents to change requests as needed.
- Participate in the Change Control process; complete change tasks and update them with relevant information and status changes.
