Responsibilities

Job Title: Senior Wireless Communications Engineer

Responsibilities:

Sabre is currently seeking an experienced Senior Wireless Communications Engineer with strong background in communication networks interested in working in a challenging, hands-on environment supporting the Department of Defense and other specialized customers in the Aberdeen MD area. Successful candidates will engage in supporting projects aimed at leveraging commercial technologies and products with the goal of adapting these to meet military needs. The position will involve design, development, test, and evaluation of a broad range of mobile wireless communications technology, products and solutions for application to current and future military networks and systems. The position also requires the ability to integrate (by designing software and or hardware interfaces) disparate commercial wireless products into current and future military tactical networks. The candidate will be required to work in a team environment and must have the ability to interface effectively with a wide range (junior to very senior) of engineering and management. The successful candidate will have good communication and briefing skills.

Location: Hybrid, On-site Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD (three days per week)

The duties of the Wireless Communications Engineer will include:

  • Support of design concepts focused on leveraging commercial wireless cellular products for integration into military tactical networks
  • Evaluation and analysis of wireless infrastructure solutions and products developed by third parties as well as in house
  • Modification and adaptation of commercial wireless technologies
  • Use of benchtop test equipment including Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Automation of laboratory testing
  • Integration of commercial wireless products into tactical networks
  • Conduct and support lab and field testing
  • Orchestration of laboratory demonstrations for a wide range of audiences ranging from technical to non-technical
  • Provide technical thought leadership in the area of wireless communications

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) and/or Master's degree (MS) in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and experience with wireless technologies
  • Knowledge and experience with TCP/IP networking

The selected candidate must be a US Citizen with an active Department of Defense Secret Clearance or able to obtain a DoD clearance. The selected candidate will be required to go through a background check prior to starting.
