Job Description

Jefferson Consulting Group is seeking a Project Management Intern to support Jefferson's U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) clients.


The Project Management Intern will support one or more project teams in the successful delivery of projects to Jefferson's U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) clients. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in international development and project management, possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. The role reports directly to the Senior Vice President leading Jefferson's USAID contract portfolio. The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong attention to detail, enthusiasm for process improvement, an interest in supporting USAID programs, and familiarity with data management techniques. A willingness to learn and try new things is necessary.

Overview of duties

  • Support one or more USAID project teams in the planning, execution, and monitoring of project tasks.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans and timelines.
  • Assist in the creation of project deliverables, including project status reports, presentations, and other materials as required.
  • Attend and participate in project team meetings, some of which will be in person in Washington, DC. Participation includes recording minutes and following-up on action items.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project planning and execution.
  • Support project team members in any other tasks required to ensure the project's completion.
  • Evaluate existing processes and solution innovative ideas to increase efficiency.
  • Update existing documentation and develop new documentation as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in international relations, international business, management, or a related international development field.
  • Reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates good judgment including understanding of when to act, when to escalate, or when to request assistance from other staff members.
  • Demonstrate "innovative" thinking and innovative ideas.
  • Inquisitive nature and an eagerness to learn.


Preferred

  • Previous internship experience.
  • Experience with Office 365.
  • Experience studying or working abroad.
