Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Transit Operations Manager vacancy in the Transit and Commuter Services Division.

This field-based position is responsible for monitoring performance of the County's contracted transit services and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of public transit operations, and related state and federal regulations pertaining to public transit systems; ability to research and prepare reports; ability to analyze problems and situations and to adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action; and the ability to manage contracts.

Duties include but are not limited to:
*Managing daily transit operations - monitoring morning and afternoon pull outs from the yard, observing and reporting the condition of bus stops, bus shelters and park and ride lots, cleanliness of buses, and ensuring facility compliance with Federal Transit Administration facility standards.
*Implementing a customer satisfaction program to improve services, based on review and analysis of customer comments.
*Monitoring appearance of buses, functionality of Real-time Information Systems and fare boxes, and coordinating upkeep and maintenance of the Park and Ride lots.
*Contract compliance and performance oversight.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning or a related field; three (3) years of related work experience in planning or public transportation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). The successful candidate will undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks.

Will be required to work in an outdoor environment and/or operate a vehicle in various types of weather. This position requires flexibility to be present in the Park and Ride lots during early morning hours, evenings and periodically work weekend days to monitor transit operations. This position is considered "essential."
